Riet Vergauwe
In 2023 I received my Master’s degree in Experimental and Theoretical Psychology at Ghent University, with a specialization in cognitive neuroscience. My thesis explored how music affects attention. During my internship in the PHASE Lab at Ghent University, I investigated how peer adversity relates to different ways people manage their emotions.
Since October 2023, I have been a PhD researcher and teaching assistant in the GHEP Lab, working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Marie-Anne Vanderhasselt and Prof. Dr. Chris Baeken. My research looks at mental well-being by investigating the relationship between stress, social connections, and lifestyle choices, with a focus on how the body and brain interact, particularly through heart-evoked potentials (HEPs).
In addition to research, I enjoy playing music on the piano and guitar, being creative and spending time with family and friends.
