Jens Allaert

I earned my master’s degree in experimental psychology and my PhD in health sciences at Ghent University. My PhD focused on the investigation of mechanisms involved in the link between rumination and regret. Currently, I’m doing FWO-funded post-doctoral research with the aim to elucidate the contribution and interplay of non-specific (placebo) and specific effects of prefrontal transcranial direct current stimulation on mechanisms related to mood and stress disorders (i.e., emotion regulation, working memory, attention control). My research interests and expertise involve clinical-experimental research methodology, psychophysiology, statistical analyses, and mental health interventions. Outside of academia, I find solace and excitement in the great outdoors through mountain and gravel biking adventures. These adventures not only provide a thrilling escape and a way to stay fit, but also align with my curiosity and drive for exploration. Furthermore, I also like to tinker with all sorts of projects (music, LEGO, raspberry Pi) to be creatively engaged.
