Qinyuan Chen
Qinyuan Chen obtained her bachelor’s in Psychology and master’s in Cognitive Neuroscience at South China Normal University. She joined the GHEP lab as a PhD student in 2020. With great interest in exploring the neural mechanisms underlying affective disorders, she combines fMRI technique to investigate the neural mechanisms of being criticized in human brain (i.e., healthy and depressed populations).
I am currently a PhD student in the GHEP lab. I received both my bachelor’s in Psychology (2017) and master’s in Cognitive Neuroscience (2020) at South China Normal University. Then, I started my PhD at Ghent University in 2020 under the guidance of Prof. Chris Baeken and Prof. Rudi De Raedt. During my PhD period, I mainly focus on the framework of criticism paradigm, with the combination of neuroimaging techniques (fMRI, DTI, and fNIRS) to explore: i) the different neural mechanisms of being criticized between neuropsychiatric patients and healthy controls; ii) the effect of brain stimulation (tDCS & iTBS) on criticism in both neuropsychiatric patients and healthy controls; iii) the effect of cognitive behavior therapy on patients with repetitive negative thinking when they are being criticized. Besides, I also be part of the project about the translational research on stress-related mental disorders, exploring the neural mechanisms of anxiety in canine.
Interests: emotion regulation, neuroimaging, affective disorders
