Seeking participants for a research study: “Modulation of the cerebellar activity with tDCS in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia”
The aim of the study is to better understand the brain mechanisms that underlie understanding social events, as well as the influence of brain stimulation on these brain mechanisms and social understanding. In addition, we will measure brain activity over one visit via an MRI while the participants perform a computer task. A non-invasive stimulation technique, tDCS (transcranial direct current stimulation) will be used. tDCS is a safe, well tolerated and not painful technique. This study will inform future clinical studies that will use tDCS for the treatment of negative symptoms of schizophrenia.
Who can participate in the study?
We are looking for people with the diagnosis of schizophrenia (18-64 years).
If you are interested or know someone with these characteristics, please complete the following questionnaire:https://vub.fra1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dcKgbhzHDxpV4do
How will the study proceed?
After filling in the online questionnaire, the eligible participants will be invited to participate in the study, which is composed of a data collection session of approximately 2 hours. The session will take place at the University Hospital Brussels. All participants will receive a compensation of 50 euros for their time, at the end of the visit.
