Exploring the efficacy of tDCS across depression symptom clusters
Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has shown limited antidepressant effectiveness across randomized clinical trials (RCTs) at the group level, with significant variability in individual responses. This variability underscores the need to investigate whether specific subgroups of patients might respond more favorably to tDCS. Therefore, we are conducting a systematic review of RCTs of tDCS for depression to collected individual item from Hamilton Depression Rating Scales (HDRS-17). Our goal is to perform agglomerative hierarchical clustering to investigate whether tDCS is more effective for specific symptoms of depression, and consequently, for specific individuals.
